10,000 boxes · one cat each · zero spoilers

There's a cat in the box.

Which one? Nobody knows. Not you, not us, not even the computer keeping it. The only way to find out is to open it. And once it's open, it stays open.

This one is just for fun: a new cat every time, no wallet needed.

How to play

Four steps. No maths required.

  1. 1

    Get a box

Every box has a cat picked at random the moment the box is made. It's sealed. Nobody has peeked, not even us. And nobody can tell it's yours: only you know which boxes you hold.

  2. 2

    Shake it

Give your box a shake and it whispers one clue, only to you: the breed, the mood, the hat… Shake as often as you like, it's free.

  3. 3

    Open it (or don't)

Opening shows your cat to the whole world, for good. Alive? Asleep? A ghost? Both at once? No take-backs.

  4. 4

    Play with the others

Put your box on the duel shelf or take up someone else's, tie two boxes together so they open as one, slip a snack through the flap, or sell it at the flea market, where offers come in sealed envelopes. The three boxes that win the most duels wear a gold, silver or bronze rosette.

So how can nobody peek?

The cat is written in a secret code that no single person holds the key to. The game can still work with it, like comparing two boxes or picking one clue for you, without ever reading it out loud.

Think of a vet with X-ray glasses who has sworn never to tell. Only when you open the box is the code cracked, in front of everyone.

The same goes for who holds what. Nobody can see which boxes are yours, how many you have, or even how many were sold: only round milestones are announced. Your boxes show up for you alone, until you open one in front of everyone.

Croquettes

Croquettes are the game's money: 20,000,000 of them, made once, never more. Feed your sealed cat and it eats every crumb. It gets heavier, and nobody can see how heavy, not even you.

Then the box is opened, and the cat steps on the scales:

  • Chubbyfrom 10,000 croquettes, 10+ days
  • Fatfrom 50,000 croquettes, 50+ days
  • Hugefrom 150,000 croquettes, 150+ days
  • Sickpast a secret limit of its own (300,000–600,000): ultra rare

A cat eats at most 2 meals and 1,000 croquettes a day, so a heavy cat takes months. Each meal is split: 20% to the treasury, 60% back to the purr everyone collects, 20% burnt.

Every box bought brings a welcome bag of 100 croquettes and purrs a few more each day. Croquettes also trade on a public market, so you can buy more or cash out. Inside the game they're secret: nobody sees your balance.

New: the studio

Draw your own rat

No box needed, no wallet needed to start. The cats stay sealed in their boxes; the depot's rats are yours to draw, in the depot's cartoon style, in 3D.

  • Free. A random rat from the game's own rat generator, as many as you like, right in your browser.
  • From your words. Describe your rat and the AI draws it, then makes it 3D. Packs from 2 USDC, paid before anything is drawn.
  • Adopt it. Adopt your rat for 1 USDC (3 for an AI rat): it earns 3 croquettes a day, sniffs the boxes, and hides a secret power to protect yours or jam someone else's.
